I graduated from Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, MA in 2004. Since then I've been a full-time LMT who has worked in spas, chiropractic offices, massage therapy and physical therapy clinics. I've had my own business and I've visited clients in their homes. I keep my skills and knowledge updated with continuing education and every client allows me to learn something new.
I believe in teaching my clients to help themselves heal. Most of my sessions include thorough instruction on how to stretch the specific muscles involved in your type of problem. Sure, maybe you've done some stretching after that spinning class you took at the gym, but do you know how to stretch the muscles that keep your hands on your computer keyboard and mouse all day? Or maybe you're a runner, who's been doing quad and hamstring stretches for years, but suddenly you can't figure out where your pain is coming from and why you've needed to shorten your stride so much?
I will teach you how to maintain the elasticity of your muscle tissue by yourself at home. While I love to see you come for massage, I'm happiest when you become pain-free and don't NEED to see me. Besides, stretching yourself is free, right?
What to expect from your appointment:
The first time you contact me, I will do a short phone or email intake. This allows me to ensure your medical conditions make you a good candidate for massage. Nobody wants to show up for their appointment only to be turned away because their health "contra-indicates" massage. Once scheduled, please arrive for your appointment about 15 minutes early. This gives us enough time to go over your current body complaints and medical history without sacrificing any of your "hands-on" time. I believe a 60 minute massage should be a 60 minute massage!
Massage therapy mostly requires you to be undressed. Your body will always be draped properly with a special massage sheet/blanket. Nothing private will ever be exposed, rest assured. You are given complete privacy to dress and undress and I will NOT be inside the room while you are changing.
I will be using my hands, fingers, forearms and elbows to apply pressure to and manipulate skin, muscle, tendon, fascia and ligament to free adhesed tissue, reduce muscle spasms, reduce pain, and increase mobility. With a range of pressure, from very light to very deep, I will press, rub, stretch, vibrate and move the joints to increase your circulation, bringing nutritive blood flow to help restore your muscle cells to optimum health. I will be checking in with you often about your comfort level to make sure the pressure is right, and you're getting the massage you want. You're in control and I will never push your pain tolerance levels.
You can expect all massage linens to be new and clean, and all surfaces are disinfected before and after your appointment. I wash my hands, forearms and elbows just before you get on the table and immediately after I finish your treatment. I will expect you to inform me of any changes in your health and I would prefer that, in the event you're not feeling well, you reschedule the massage until you're better.
Currently you can see me at my home office or in the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at Reliant Medical Group, both in Worcester, MA. Click on "Contact Me" for details.
Thank you so much for your business!
